What did you play with when you were a child? What was your first toy? Who gave it to you? These are some of the images that come to mind when you walk through the 430 m² of the second floor of this new museum.
Eduardo Balduccio and his daughter Estefania gathered a collection of more than 25,000 pieces. Balduccio has been collecting objects since he was 10 years old, later he became known in fairs and auctions as “El Juguetero” and that is the name of his museum.
There are unique toys from 1898 to 1995 made of wood, metal, plastic or rag from Uruguayan and international industries. To the surprise of many, the greatest presence of toys are national (50%), followed by Japanese, German, English, American, Russian, among others.
For Balduccio each toy “has life”, how many people played with it, what is the story behind each one is what gives meaning to this collection that keeps more than 100 years of history. You will find from a collector’s car, porcelain dolls, drag toys to wooden airplanes, tractors and much more. Don’t miss it!
