What can I do in  Montevideo outdoors?

It is tempting to cool off, feel free and relaxed in Montevideo, without the presence of crowds. In addition to offering an endless number of cultural proposals, the capital is a meeting point to enjoy moments in the open air. It is even possible to visit neighboring proposals just a few minutes away from each other.

PROMENADE AND PARKS

The capital’s rambla, the access balcony to more than 30 kilometers of coastline, is one of the main attributes of Montevideo and a must-see for its inhabitants, who usually resort to it to bathe, drink mate and take long walks or practice paragliding and surfing on windy days. There are also a lot of green spaces, parks and gardens that offer multiple options in open spaces. For bike lovers, Bike Tours Uruguay, offers different thematic tours that allow you to get to know every corner of the city.

FRIENDSHIP PARK

It is the first inclusive park in Montevideo with universal accessibility, open to the public. It is located in the Villa Dolores neighborhood, on its main avenue: Rivera 3245.

It has just been renovated and has two different areas. A rest area with lots of greenery, with chairs and tables, near a fountain with water. In addition to the sports area, which has a skating rink with a surface of 40 by 20 meters; a space for climbing; an exercise area; a mini basketball court; an area for aerial acrobatics with fabrics; a bocce court (Paralympic sport) and a skateboarding track.

There is also an area for interaction with the environment: in this sector visitors can experience the relationship with the environment and the surroundings, touching the water of the waterfall, playing with soap bubbles or through gardening activities. Visitors can learn more about the Earth and its care, for example by sorting waste.

In the perception sector, the senses are put to the test through games. Musical and auditory perception activities, tactile exploration games, vision, taste and smell experiences. There is no lack of creation: the challenge is to put together the games to be used: board games, puzzles and even musical instruments. There are also plastic arts, drawing and storytelling activities.
