Cultura y naturaleza en San Gregorio de Polanco

Golden beaches, open-air art, and unforgettable sunsets make this corner of Tacuarembó an ideal destination to unwind, venture into nature, and get carried away by the magic of its landscapes. This peaceful, small resort town of just over 3,000 inhabitants says goodbye to the sun each day along the shores of the Rio Negro, with a beautiful, wide, sandy beach. It offers a variety of accommodations: a well-equipped campsite, as well as cabins and hotels. During the high season (December to March), tourist services such as horseback riding, canoe and kayak rentals, and guided city tours are available.
But the main identity of the resort lies in being the first “Open-Air Museum of Visual Arts” in Latin America, featuring works by renowned national and international artists including Clever Lara, Octavio Podestá, and Ana María Poggi, among many others. There are nearly 100 murals painted on private homes and businesses in collaboration with the local community.
