Other attractions are the panoramic route from Barrio Anglo to Las Cañas bathing resort, the viewpoint of the San Martín Bridge; and the UPM industrial plant, which can be visited by previous coordination.
The department to which it belongs is located between the two most important rivers in the country, the majestic Uruguay River and the mighty Negro River. Both have a combined flow of more than five million liters per second.
The territory is irrigated by numerous watercourses and has coasts on two important hydroelectric reservoirs: Rincón de Palmar and Rincón de Baygorria. Its climate is mild and pleasant, which favors the enjoyment of nature at all times of the year.
Río Negro has beautiful fluvial beaches such as Las Cañas, Puerto Viejo and Potrero de Burro on the Uruguay River and Los Arrayanes on the Negro River.
The department is also characterized by the presence of multiple areas of value and prodigal biodiversity. The preservation and valorization of these areas has been beneficial for the local communities living in the area. Thus, for example, Esteros de Farrapos e Islas de Río Uruguay, located on the western river coast of the department, was identified and promoted as a Protected Area by the National System of Protected Areas, and is a source of pride for the people of Rio Negro.

Don't miss out!

Waterfront promenade

It was built in 1940 by the architects Carlevaro and Avella Trías, using spaces reclaimed from the Uruguay River that were filled with material from the ravines.
