Waterfront promenade<\/h4>\r\nCreated in 1912, it is the main stage of the social life of the capital, where mercedarios of all ages meet to practice sports or to drink mate looking at the river. Along its 2 kilometers of extension, the promenade is decorated with sculptures and a great diversity of native trees.\r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\n

Mau\u00e1 Castle<\/h4>\r\nThis historic palace was built by Baron de Mau\u00e1 between 1857 and 1862, by the famous Brazilian banker who had several ventures in Uruguay. The first floor houses the Alejandro Berro Paleontological Museum, while the upper floor houses a very attractive art gallery.\r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\n

Municipal Theater<\/h4>\r\nIt is one of the main theaters in the interior of Uruguay, inaugurated in 1857.
