However, the representative icon par excellence of the town is its old pier, which was recently restored and adapted to contemporary needs. Next to it is the first River Station of Uruguay, installed in the well-known former Hotel Olivera, an emblematic patrimonial building built at the end of the 19th century, where today service is provided to the navigators and to the different visitors of the region. The building has a tourist information center, public restrooms, a prefecture office, a multipurpose room for exhibitions, meetings and events, and a cafeteria with a terrace overlooking the river where it is possible to spend a pleasant time enjoying the peace and beauty of the place.

More information

Stories of the place Open or Close

Don't miss out!

Marfetan Museum

It exhibits various objects found in the environment: indigenous pottery, fossilized bone remains, radios, glass, photos, bottles and medicines from the apothecaries of 1900, gaucho elements and original historical documents.

Chapel of Santo Domingo

Built in 1797, the chapel was victim of bombardments and important floods.
