Soriano is also a fertile department in historical episodes.on the beach of the Agraciada, located in the km 8 of the route 21, on April 19, 1825 they disembarked the group of the Thirty-three patriots who gave origin to the Liberating Crusade, consummating the independence of Uruguay.\r\nThe capital of Soriano is the city of Mercedes, to 278 km of Montevideo, on route 2.
