The foundational process of the city is inscribed between 1724 and 1730, period in which the first settlers from Buenos Aires and the Canary Islands began to arrive. In 1833, the new layout for the New City was designed, which began to be fully implemented in 1861, unlike the Old City, which was walled around its perimeter, the New City was designed with wide, tree-lined streets where sumptuous stores and large residences were located.

Capital with its feet in the river: Traveling along 30 kilometers of coastline is one of the unmissable possibilities offered by the capital of Montevideo, which never turns its back on the Río de la Plata.
